Elephant Card to go with the Elephant Baby Shower CardsΒ

30 06 2017

Almost done with baby Shower Cards πŸ™‚ I think there will be abt 5 sets total when I’m done.

In this card, I used a cut file from the Silhouette Store as a digital stamp. The elephant was pretty fun to color πŸ™‚ (Quick tutorial on using cut files as digital stamps here)

Inside, you’ll find one of my favorite card features – a pop up!

More Baby Shower Cards

29 06 2017

I told you there were a lot. There’s still two more sets I need to work on πŸ˜€

The shower theme is elephants this time. I don’t have that many elephant things to play with, but I did have a file for an elephant book mark, so I started there πŸ™‚

Once I planned it out, I realized I didn’t have any light gray paper and white didn’t look quite right. Because I’m impatient, I used the white anyway and then used my copics to add color to the face. I sponged gray ink on the back and added a few details with my prisma color pencils.

I designed the card in Craft Artist 2, then dragged it into my Silhouette work space for some autotrace work and a print and cut. I sized the elephant book marks to a complimentary size then cut those out, too.

Just for fun, here’s a pic showing the coloring progression for the elephant faces. There were 12 of these guys.

I also made a satchel/purse/bag to hold the cards. I used some of the same colors and paper for this as I did for the cards.

Here’s the finished project.

A Card For the Baby Shower Gift

24 06 2017

I was excited to remember I had a file for a card with an umbrella and I thought it would go well with the umbrella gift bag. I changed it up a bit, used the same color scheme and some of the papers from the gift so they’re coordinated πŸ™‚

Babies, Part 2

23 06 2017

Here’s the second set of baby cards. I have to admit, I’m kind of in love with this set. It turned out better than I thought it would πŸ™‚

The designed the card in Craft Artist 2 and imported it into my silhouette work space to do a print & cut. I used my prismacolor pencils to better define the flower.

Here’s the difference he pencils make. I like the added contrast πŸ™‚

For the umbrella bag (this was an adorable design in an Easter kit, but it worked well for this) I added the digital papers I used to design the card into the Patterns folder in my library so my bag coordinated with my cards. I had some extra vinyl left from my Father’s Day project, so I used that instead of paper for baby Finley’s name πŸ™‚

I absolutely love how this project turned out. Hopefully, my sister-in law will, too!

Lots and Lots of Babies Which Means Lots and Lots of Baby Showers

23 06 2017

This is a busy baby year! One shower last week. One tomorrow and another couple in a couple of weeks. I don’t usually give baby gifts. I try to give mommy gifts, and usually, it’s cards she can use as thank you cards if she’d like.

Here’s the first set.

I designed these cards in Craft Artist 2 then transferred them into my Silhouette work space to do a print & cut before attaching the card front to the actual card. I also used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the little coordinating butterflies to add to the card for a little bit of dimension. Then I made a coordinating box to hold them all.

Of Storms and Father’s Day

23 06 2017

We had some strong storms come through this past weekend. We lost power for a few hours. This always scares me. We have a couple of salt water aquariums that together equal over 200 gallons, then there’s the sump which has even more water (filtration and heating the water happen here). Without power, we can’t heat or circulate the water, and our small oceans may die. But after the power came back on, we were still without internet for a few more days. I’m finally getting some things back on track πŸ™‚

So. Father’s Day. Even with the storms, it was nice to celebrate with my daddy and also thank my husband for the awesome men they are.

My daddy’s card: my parents RV. I’m a little jealous. I want to trade places with them sometimes, but I don’t think they’d let me πŸ˜‰ Since a lot of us were together this weekend, I took advantage of that and secretly had everyone sign his card before giving it to him πŸ™‚

For my husband: We went with the baseball theme πŸ™‚ I used vinyl on this cute…I’m not sure what to call this, but I found it at Hobby Lobby πŸ™‚ and then, a box card (I kind of really love box cards).

A little background: the last few years have been kind of tough. We seem to be in reactionary mode most of the time. I’m so over reactionary mode. This quote reminded me I don’t necessarily need to be passive. I don’t have to wait for something to happen. I can take steps to stop or limit some of these things and I can come out swinging when I need to.

It’s hard to tell in the picture, but the baseball has some 3D action going on. And the box card has a family picture on it. I wanted something he could easily take to work if he wanted.

I Wanna Hold Your Hand (x8)

10 06 2017

This card started out kind of rough. I wasn’t really sure how it would turn out. But I’m kind of giddy now. I have no idea what to use the card for, but I’m sure I’ll find something πŸ™‚

I used a stamp set by Hero arts. I drew in the background with my copics and used pencils for details/shadows πŸ™‚

Thanks for stopping by πŸ™‚

Flower Power

8 06 2017

You may have noticed a theme. It appears I like flowers πŸ™‚

This was for fun, so I could practice some of the things I learned in the online copic class I took. Even though the class focused on copics, I think the ideas and techniques work well with my prismacolor pencils, too πŸ™‚

The flowers are a combination of copics and pencils. Although I love my copics, pencil worked better for the woman since so many of the spaces were smaller.

I designed it in Craft Artist 2 then imported it into my Silhouette Cameo workspace. I used the print&cut function to cut the pieces out after coloring them.

You Don’t Always Get What You Want

5 06 2017

Now I’ve got that song stuck in my head πŸ˜‰

I played with some new stamps and I don’t think I quite have the hang of them yet. Again, I think my color selection might be off, and some techniques didn’t work as well as I’d hoped.

This stamp set does have a coordinating die set for help with cutting them out. However, I don’t have it. But it’s fine because I have a pixscan mat to use with my Cameo πŸ™‚

Okay, so that part didn’t turn out as well as I’d hoped either. While it now reads the registration marks and cuts, the cuts are a little misaligned. It’s still easier than fussy cutting them, but not as accurate. And I KNOW it can be more accurate, I’m just not sure how to tweak it 😦
This means I NEED to play with the stamps set some more πŸ™‚

Mermaid in a Bottle

3 06 2017

It was a stressful week. We had court for our foster son and the judge is in the process of deciding whether to change the baby’s case goal from reunification to adoption.

Court was Thursday.

It’s Saturday.

We’re still waiting for an answer.

To help deal with the stress, I colored a mermaid.Β

I decided she needed a cozy bottle to hang out it, but it was kind of boring, so I also created a background for her.

But I’m most excited about the cork. Yes, the cork. Below the card in the picture, you can see what the cork looked like compared to the cork on the card.

When I put the card together, I realized the bottle looked kind of funny with the cork on top because the cork should be behind the opening. But when I put it behind the card, it looked funny because there was no cork visible inside the opening.

To fix this, I drew in the bottom part of the cork and colored it with my copics. Then I colored the top of the cork to make it match better.

I like the bottle much better now πŸ™‚

The mermaid is from a place called Coronado Stamps, but I don’t think they’re around anymore. But a quick search online showed their stamps may be found on eBay πŸ™‚ I used my pixscan mat to cut out the stamped image on my Silhouette Cameo.

The background was done in Craft Artist 2 with the kit called Summer Seaside. The bottle and the letter set are from the Silhouette Store.
