I Had Plans But….

13 08 2017

I had a stamp set picked out to use.

I had a card sketched out on paper.

My card kind of resembles my sketch.

Here’s the sketch I did. I don’t know if you can really tell what it is, but that’s okay, since I didn’t really follow it 😉

Here’s the stamp set I planned to use…but I don’t think I used any of that, either.

From the sketch, I think I kept the background and the coral…

Here’s how the card turned out. I’m not disappointed at all.

The background is sponged on using multiple colors of multiple shades of browns and blues.

The white line around the card was done using a Silhouette sketch pen and a pixscan mat.

The mermaid was stamped and colored with copics and pencils.

I wanted to use my pixscan mat again to cut her out – but after the first cut, I could see the cut was off. I stopped the machine and rescued the image and ended up cutting her out by hand.

I kept trying to work in the sea horses I’d colored and cut out from the stamp set, but it just didn’t work. I dug through my things and found the bliss stamp and I’m jazzed how well it all came together considering it barely resembles the idea I started out with.

Bliss stamp in a set from Serendipity, but I’ve had it forever and I can’t find the specific set. There is a stamp there that looks like it, but I have no idea how the size compares.

Mermaid is from a place called Coronado Islands stamps, but I don’t believe they exist any longer.

The coral is from the octopus set I used a while back 🙂

Back From Vacation!

24 07 2017

This summer has been kind of busy. In all fairness, I do have 7 kids which does take up some time 😉

I’ve been working on things but haven’t really had a chance to post them. But, today, I have something to post, as well as a pixscan project I’ll post soon 🙂

This card is something I did because I needed to color 🙂 After a couple of weeks away, I was a little worried I might have lost my mojo. But I found it 🙂

This card was designed in Craft Artist 2 (which is being discontinued shortly, btw)(so sad). And then I brought the different pieces of the card into my silhouette workspace to do a print and cut. I colored the flowers and butterfly then added them to the card front.

More Baby Shower Cards

29 06 2017

I told you there were a lot. There’s still two more sets I need to work on 😀

The shower theme is elephants this time. I don’t have that many elephant things to play with, but I did have a file for an elephant book mark, so I started there 🙂

Once I planned it out, I realized I didn’t have any light gray paper and white didn’t look quite right. Because I’m impatient, I used the white anyway and then used my copics to add color to the face. I sponged gray ink on the back and added a few details with my prisma color pencils.

I designed the card in Craft Artist 2, then dragged it into my Silhouette work space for some autotrace work and a print and cut. I sized the elephant book marks to a complimentary size then cut those out, too.

Just for fun, here’s a pic showing the coloring progression for the elephant faces. There were 12 of these guys.

I also made a satchel/purse/bag to hold the cards. I used some of the same colors and paper for this as I did for the cards.

Here’s the finished project.

A Card For the Baby Shower Gift

24 06 2017

I was excited to remember I had a file for a card with an umbrella and I thought it would go well with the umbrella gift bag. I changed it up a bit, used the same color scheme and some of the papers from the gift so they’re coordinated 🙂

Lots and Lots of Babies Which Means Lots and Lots of Baby Showers

23 06 2017

This is a busy baby year! One shower last week. One tomorrow and another couple in a couple of weeks. I don’t usually give baby gifts. I try to give mommy gifts, and usually, it’s cards she can use as thank you cards if she’d like.

Here’s the first set.

I designed these cards in Craft Artist 2 then transferred them into my Silhouette work space to do a print & cut before attaching the card front to the actual card. I also used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the little coordinating butterflies to add to the card for a little bit of dimension. Then I made a coordinating box to hold them all.

Of Storms and Father’s Day

23 06 2017

We had some strong storms come through this past weekend. We lost power for a few hours. This always scares me. We have a couple of salt water aquariums that together equal over 200 gallons, then there’s the sump which has even more water (filtration and heating the water happen here). Without power, we can’t heat or circulate the water, and our small oceans may die. But after the power came back on, we were still without internet for a few more days. I’m finally getting some things back on track 🙂

So. Father’s Day. Even with the storms, it was nice to celebrate with my daddy and also thank my husband for the awesome men they are.

My daddy’s card: my parents RV. I’m a little jealous. I want to trade places with them sometimes, but I don’t think they’d let me 😉 Since a lot of us were together this weekend, I took advantage of that and secretly had everyone sign his card before giving it to him 🙂

For my husband: We went with the baseball theme 🙂 I used vinyl on this cute…I’m not sure what to call this, but I found it at Hobby Lobby 🙂 and then, a box card (I kind of really love box cards).

A little background: the last few years have been kind of tough. We seem to be in reactionary mode most of the time. I’m so over reactionary mode. This quote reminded me I don’t necessarily need to be passive. I don’t have to wait for something to happen. I can take steps to stop or limit some of these things and I can come out swinging when I need to.

It’s hard to tell in the picture, but the baseball has some 3D action going on. And the box card has a family picture on it. I wanted something he could easily take to work if he wanted.

I Wanna Hold Your Hand (x8)

10 06 2017

This card started out kind of rough. I wasn’t really sure how it would turn out. But I’m kind of giddy now. I have no idea what to use the card for, but I’m sure I’ll find something 🙂

I used a stamp set by Hero arts. I drew in the background with my copics and used pencils for details/shadows 🙂

Thanks for stopping by 🙂
