Fries Before Guys

28 07 2017

I have a daughter who LOVES fries. I guess it’s only natural since she’s obsessed with potatoes. She’s even tried growing some spuds.

With school starting up soon, I wanted to remind her of her priorities 😉

She’s got plenty of time to get her heart broken, I want her to have a season of fun and light heartedness, so we’re totally pushing this fry thing 😉

Today I Thought of You

28 07 2017

Sometimes, I make cards with specific people in mind and for specific purposes.

Often times, I make cards because I need to create.

That’s what happened with this card 🙂

The background is pattern from the Silhouette Store, as are the two files I combined for the greenery and butterfly.

I printed off the background and cut it out. I turned the cut files into a “digi” stamp of sorts then printed it off, colored it using my copic markers and prismacolor pencils, then printed it off and layered everything on to the card front.

Here’s a picture of part of the process.

I’m not sure who this is for, or where I’ll use it, but I can ALWAYS use a card like this.

Thanks for stopping by!

A Non-Craft Related Post

24 07 2017

If you’ve been following the blog for a little while, you know our youngest child is a foster son. He’s biologically related to some kiddos we adopted a few years back.

Interesting things are happening in our state under a new governor. The most significant being the Foster Care Bill of Rights he signed into law last month.

The way the process was explained to us a few years ago, the only time the judge can ask the questions – Is this what’s best for the child – is when they were deciding to remove a child from care. The judge said the rest of the laws are written for the adults – the parents.

The very first line on this new Foster Care Bill of Rights states that the best interest of the child should be the top priority for Children’s Division.

54 days ago, all three state representatives involved in my foster son’s case recommended that the case goal be changed to adoption (with us). We’re still waiting to hear what the judge’s ruling is. But we hope that the new Foster Care Bill of Rights gives those workers stronger ground to stand on when they’re arguing for the children. We’re hoping that they can finally use the words – this is in the best interest of the child.

Why I Love My Pixscan Mat!

24 07 2017

For years, I didn’t get what the big deal about the pixscan mat was. Then I got one and now, I understand 😉

I had a scrap of vinyl to use – who wants to waste perfectly good vinyl?

My daughter needed something to decorate the case for her glasses – it was pretty plain.

My pixscan mat was perfect for this job!

First, I stuck her case onto my pixscan mat and went through the steps of loading it into my work space.

Next, I found the image she wanted and modified it to fit her case.

Once I had my design, I put my vinyl scrap on my pixscan mat and loaded this into my workspace.

Then I copied my design and pasted it over the top of the new image I had.

From here, I cut out the vinyl and applied it to my daughter’s case. She was a happy camper 🙂

Back From Vacation!

24 07 2017

This summer has been kind of busy. In all fairness, I do have 7 kids which does take up some time 😉

I’ve been working on things but haven’t really had a chance to post them. But, today, I have something to post, as well as a pixscan project I’ll post soon 🙂

This card is something I did because I needed to color 🙂 After a couple of weeks away, I was a little worried I might have lost my mojo. But I found it 🙂

This card was designed in Craft Artist 2 (which is being discontinued shortly, btw)(so sad). And then I brought the different pieces of the card into my silhouette workspace to do a print and cut. I colored the flowers and butterfly then added them to the card front.

Thanks for stopping by!
