That Time I Made Some Cards

30 07 2018

So that title might be a little misleading…I seem to always be making cards, lol. But here’s some you may not have seen yet.

Trying my hand at water coloring…I think this was my first try. It’s okay. It’s not going to win any awards, but it wasn’t bad enough to toss.

Craft Project 5

I had THREE birthday boys in May…I need to figure out where the other card went. But here’s two of them πŸ™‚ I was able to color the one on the left with copics as well as parts of the one on the right.Craft Project 4

Sometimes, you just have to color a rose πŸ™‚

And this caterpillar is *so* cute. I totally “borrowed” this idea from Sandy Allnock. She did it for Autism Awareness month back in April. I used it as a birthday card πŸ™‚

That Time My Father-in-law Turned 90

2 04 2018

Yes, 90! Amazing! His mom lived until she was 102 or 103, so we’ll see what happens πŸ™‚

But when someone turns 90, you gotta have something good because odds are they’ve seen almost everything.

So I put together a gift set for him πŸ™‚

Here he is with his cake – isn’t he handsome? Sorry girls, he’s taken.

Here’s the packaged gift set

And unpacked with boxes and bags (I made those, too).

And individual pieces

He used to love to garden and liked his flowers. So we went with this card πŸ™‚

And a sweet sentiment for him put on a mug – although I’m not entirely happy with how this came out. It was my first time using oracal 651. It just means I need to play more. Yay!

And something fun to wear like a big hug from us πŸ™‚

Christmas Cards Part the Sixth

21 12 2017

Mary at SVG Cuts does such amazing work designing and making so many wonderful and fun things. I LOVE this gingerbread house. I modified it a little because of the paper I was working with. I wanted the brown paper, but it wasn’t as sturdy as I wanted it to be for a box card, so I modified a few things πŸ™‚ I added stickles and used a pearl like pen to finish it off.

I tried not to reuse any of the cards from last year for my husband to take to work, that way there weren’t any duplicates, but I couldn’t resist this one. It’s one of my favorites. It takes a little more time because of all the shading and glitter I added, but it was so worth it in the end πŸ™‚

This last one is actually a birthday card for a friend who has a birthday this month, but it can be used as a winter/Christmas card just as easily. This image is actually a sketch file from the Silhouette Design Store, but I printed it instead so I could use my copics to color it in. The ovals and scalloped frames are also from the store, as is the little tagΒ  beneath

When a Birthday is Forgotten…

11 11 2017

You have to ask your wife for help and she gleefully steps up her game πŸ™‚

I figured the birthday card needed to be extra special so I looked through my Silhouette Library and found this.

The paper on the outside of the box is a pattern from the Silhouette Store and I changed out the greeting on the tag.

For Birthday Girl Two!

31 10 2017

And in just about a week, there’s another birthday πŸ™‚

This time, we celebrated an 18th birthday! Wowzers! She didn’t ask for anything too exciting – just iTunes gift cards – so I made a few things for her πŸ™‚

She’s been studying French in school for years and would love to visit some day. I bought these files from the Silhouette Store with her in mind πŸ™‚

You can’t see from this angle, but the back ground is a cloudy sky. The tower was printed, then cut out. I cut just the outline (no printing) out two more times and layered everything with foam tape to give it some dimension.

I printed these out, but they were a little flat. I used pencils and markers to give them a little life πŸ™‚ I added the word Dream beneath the pictures. The “stamps” are affixed with foam tape πŸ˜€

This card was fun πŸ™‚ I used the plain boxcard template from SVG Cuts. I gathered the other elements from the Silhouette Store and somehow this happened. I think there may have been a little magic involved πŸ™‚

Birthdays Abound This Month!

9 05 2017

Things are a little crazy in May. Along with the school year wrapping up, we have 3 birthdays. Two of them were today. Tomorrow, we have two kiddos graduating. This makes 3 graduates with 4 more to go…2 of them haven’t started school yet… yikes!

But, birthdays πŸ™‚ here’s the card for my 1 yo. I’d share the card for my 13 yo, but I’m not sure abt copyright on that one, so I don’t feel comfortable posting it.  You can find the birthday card in the silhouette store.

Now, onto graduation themed cards πŸ˜€
