My Pixscan Works Now!

31 05 2017

Silhouette released V4 of their software and I finally just did it. I always worry that my computer will do something stupid and I’ll lose work, so I backed everything up and pushed the upgrade button. And now my pixscan mat works! (It didn’t work for me on the previous version.)

I used it on this card – I’m not sure how I feel about this card yet, though. But I got to use the pixscan feature and that’s really what I wanted to do 🙂

I used markers and colored directly on the stamp then stamped down. There were repeated passes to get the fish to this point, but I was trying to practice.

Anyway, here’s the card. Thanks for looking 😀

Fish Stamp set, Fish Bowl file, embossing folder is by We R Memory Keepers, but I can’t find a link for it :/

I Colored a Gun

29 05 2017

There’s a first time for everything 😉

I’ve spent the weekend thinking about the sacrifices of so many before me. My family history is full of military personnel – from pre-revolution times through today.

Some of those ancestors were prisoners on enemy ships. Others walked in the snow as they walked behind men who had no idea they were making history.

Others marched for a country who hated them, because they still had the integrity and love for the country that wanted them dead. Interestingly, those volunteers never saw battle, but they did see history being made. One walked away from Sutter’s Mill because seeing his family was more precious to him than all the gold in the mines.

Many, many more left examples of courage and honor for which I’m deeply grateful.

Then there are those who didn’t come home. They’re the ones I thought of while I made this card.

The blue background and words were printed then cut out and matted on the white card front. The boot, gun, and helmet was a silhouette of the image. I cut it out on white paper then went in and added the details and color. I think it’s the first time I’ve colored a gun.

Thanks for stopping by. If you’re the family of a fallen soldier, Thank you, from the deepest part of my heart, for the sacrifices you and your family have made.

One Last Birthday Card

28 05 2017

A third of our family’s birthdays are in the month of May. We wrapped the birthdays up today with my oldest turning 20.

20!

I’m having a hard time believing that this amazing boy in now 20.

Anyway, here’s his birthday card. It’s from the kit named Sunday With Dad over at http://www.svgcuts.com.

The meat, cheese, tomato, lettuce, and onion were cut out on white paper. I used my copics and prismacolor pencils to color them (obviously, you can cut them out of whatever color you like. I just really like to color).

Thanks for stopping by 🙂

Coloring Flowers

25 05 2017

In the online Copic class I’m taking, we just finished talking about coloring flowers. These are what I practiced with. All stamps are from Stampendous and come with coordinating metal dies for easy cutting, except the Thinking of You sentiment. I think that one’s from ArtC.

Flowers Again

20 05 2017

In my last post, I had a sheet of flowers and leaves but didn’t use them all on the project I shared.

I didn’t want them to go to waste, so I used them here 🙂

Hello Card

19 05 2017

I’m taking an online copic class. Yesterday we were supposed to practice coloring things with circles in them. I don’t think I have any simply shaped circle images so I used some flower stamps (and coordinating dies) by Stampendous.

I also tried out different color combinations, which was nice.

So I stamped and colored everything. In this picture you can see all the pieces. You can also see the difference using colored pencils to darken shadowed areas and lighten the highlighted areas makes on the flowers (compare the bottom two flowers on the right to the other flowers).

After coloring all the pretties, I used the coordinating die set to cut them out. I then used  a metal die from a Sizzix set I have to cut out the brick work in the top left corner, then addded the flowers and leaves to the bottom right.

Finally, I used a stamp and metal die set from ArtC for the Hello.

For My Foster Son’s Birth Mother – A Mother’s Day Card

17 05 2017

I think about her a lot.

I wonder how she’s doing.

I wonder if she’s safe and healthy.

I wonder if she’s happy.

And on days like Mother’s Day, I wonder how she’s survived the loss of three children, and potentially a fourth.

I’ve wanted to reach out on previous Mother’s Days to let her know the children she gave birth to are safe and happy. That they’re doing phenomenally well even though we’ve had our struggles.

But I’ve never had a way to reach out until now.

So this is her card. I’m not sure what I’m going to write in it, but I may not get another chance to do this, so I don’t want to squander it.

Another Mother’s Day Card

15 05 2017

Because there wasn’t enough time to get ALL of them done.

This one is for the parent aide who transports, teaches, and supervises our foster son’s visits with his birth mother. She deserves way more than this.

Once again, I used one of the digital cutting files from the Silhouette Store as a digital stamp.

Thanks for stopping by!

Graduation Cards

14 05 2017

This week was INCREDIBLY BUSY. Two of our boys celebrated their birthdays on Tuesday. Wednesday, two of our girls graduated from high school. Friday we had a kiddo graduate from pre-k. There were various doctor appointments – planned and unplanned. We had family in town for the day on Saturday. I had a lesson to prepare for church, and today was Mother’s day. It was a long week, but we did it 🙂

And in the chaos, I managed to make graduation cards for my girls. Both can be found in the Silhouette Store.

I wasn’t too happy with the size of this first one. I thought it would be bigger and I told my daughter I would make her a new one. She likes the small one, so it’s all good 🙂

Overall, the second one turned out how I thought it would and I’m okay with that 🙂

My Mom’s Mother’s Day Card

14 05 2017

It’s hard to figure out when to post some things and when not to – so you don’t ruin surprises 🙂 So even though I shared my sister’s mother’s day card, I didn’t post my mom’s early. That, and I had a busy week 🙂

So here’s my mom’s card. Both the sentiment and the butterflies are from the Silhouette Store. The sentiment made me giggle, but then felt a little arrogant, so I followed it up with something on the inside. I used the butterflies as a digital stamp instead of a cut file. I used a sketch pen in my Silhouette Cameo for the words on the card front and inside. The words were colored with prismacolor pencils and the butterflies were a mix of copics and prismacolor pencils.
