That Time I Made Some Cards

30 07 2018

So that title might be a little misleading…I seem to always be making cards, lol. But here’s some you may not have seen yet.

Trying my hand at water coloring…I think this was my first try. It’s okay. It’s not going to win any awards, but it wasn’t bad enough to toss.

I had THREE birthday boys in May…I need to figure out where the other card went. But here’s two of them 🙂 I was able to color the one on the left with copics as well as parts of the one on the right.Craft Project 4

Sometimes, you just have to color a rose 🙂

And this caterpillar is *so* cute. I totally “borrowed” this idea from Sandy Allnock. She did it for Autism Awareness month back in April. I used it as a birthday card 🙂

I Still Play With Paper, Too

30 07 2018

I posted a lot of vinyl projects today, but I still play with paper, too 🙂 Here’s a gift set of cards all tucked away in a cute little purse bag.

My husband needed to congratulate a friend of his on a pretty big accomplishment, so I made this for him to use.

Boys Get Cute Vinyl, Too

30 07 2018

Right now, the 2yo is like this really adorable octopus when we’re trying to get him dressed. We have cute little suits for church, but some Sunday mornings they just aren’t worth the hassle. I used my Cameo and my heat press to create an easy option for those busy mornings.

My 6yo had an exciting summer so far. He got to go to camp! It was his reward for having some good days after a 4 week long power struggle and I wanted it to be extra special. So I made him a personalized camp bag. I was hoping for a draw string bag, but found a $2.00 back pack that worked just fine 🙂

I Vinyled Some Things…Again

30 07 2018

I never thought I’d decorate my Silhouette Cameo, but then I saw this vinyl, found this Sagittarius design, and then a little bit of mental instability hit.

I decorated my machine.

Here’s the outcome.

I may have gone a little Sagittarius crazy and decorated my cell phone case, too…

Friendship Shirts

30 07 2018

At the end of the school year (I told you I was running behind) my daughter wanted a shirt for her and her friend.

The drama club in our high school has a tradition of sending the seniors off with a song from the musical Wicked. So my daughter asked for these shirts. Both girls loved them.

Autism Awareness Shirts

30 07 2018

So, in the few months since our 2yo’s autism diagnosis, I’ve had a *little* bit of time to create. I’ve even been able to take a few pics. But having time to put them on the blog wasn’t so easy. So now, I’m playing catch up 🙂

First up are some shirts I made for my little guy. When we’re out, if we’re dealing with melt downs, or just out of the ordinary behavior, I want people to know what’s going on. I believe that when people understand something, they’re much less judgmental, and sometimes more likely to help. I don’t mind talking to people about what’s going on, but sometimes, there’s just not time.

But here’s the other thing. My kiddo has lot of REALLY GOOD days. Most of the time people don’t know he’s on the spectrum unless we tell them. And I want people to see *that* side of autism, too.  Most people think they know what it looks like, but they’d be wrong. If you’re not familiar with my son, you’re not likely to see it. And that’s one of the reasons it’s called a spectrum 🙂

So, here are his shirts.

I Made a Thing!

27 07 2018

Holy cow! No posts for like a month+ and now there’s two! And this post is about a 3D project!

If you don’t know – I LOVE 3D paper projects. But they take more time than cards, and I just don’t have a ton of time these days. But for my parents, I stayed up until 3am working on this and I love how it turned out.

We just wrapped up an annual reunion. The tradition is about 30 years old. Each family (there are 10 kids in my mom’s family) takes turns hosting and planning. This year, it was my parents’ turn. It’s a lot of hard work and I wanted something special to thank them with. So I made this and filled it with chocolate 🙂 And yes, they are avid RV-ers, so this was perfect for them 🙂 The file is from SVG Cuts.

I Colored!

27 07 2018

It’s been a month or so since I posted.

Little man is doing GREAT in ABA therapy, but we’re doing roughly 20 hours a week, so we’re pretty busy which doesn’t leave a lot of crafting time. But he’s worth it so no big.

Because of the time restrictions, I don’t get to make a lot of 3D projects anymore, but I’ve found that I can do a card or two here and there, so that’s what I’m sharing today 🙂

So one of the new things I bought myself was the Tim Holtz/Tonic Studios stamp platform. One of the things I REALLY loved about this device is the work space on the side that I can use as a color pallet. So I used my inks and tried a little water coloring. Many of the cards shown below will be water colored. These images are stamped then colored. And with many of these cards I used a masking technique when I stamped the images.

The hummingbird is water color mixed with pencil. The orchid is water color.

Set 1

The flamingo is water colored with pencil on top as well as sponged on color.

Flamingo Thank You Watercolor

On the flower, I used my copics then pencils over top. I finished that one off by heat embossing black over the top after the image was colored. The heron is a mix of copics and pencils. Then the image was embossed with clear embossing powder and the sky filled in with water color and sponging on color from my ink pads.

Set 3

The flowers were done with markers directly on the stamp then stamped on to the paper. Then I sponged the background. What you can’t see, due to poor planning on my part, are the words Thinking of You that I embossed in white. There’s not enough contrast, so the words get lost on the card. Unfortunately, there’s no undo button on things like this, so it is what it is *shrugs*.

The mermaid card turned out better than I expected which is always a bonus! I used copics then my pencils. The octopus was a layered stamp, but I went in with pencils and embellished areas and deepened others.

Set 2

Typically, I try to link to the products I used, but there are quite a few here and like I said before, time is limited. And really, I’d rather be crafting than linking 😉 BUT if you have a questions about anything I posted, let me know and I’ll do my best to answer 🙂
